Building on the outstanding success of the R1 PUSH we are very proud to present the Stewart Golf R1-S PUSH trolley that is built by hand in Gloucestershire.
Now complete with 10 different colour variations, the R1-S PUSH has been branded ‘The best push trolley in the world’. Based on a novel application of the tried and tested rack & pinion system. Rack & pinion is most well known for use in car steering systems to turn the circular movement of turning a steering wheel, into the linear movement of the steering rack.
Specially designed self adjusting bag jaws will accommodate any style of stand, cart or tour bag, and an innovative new silicone bag strap both adjusts to bag size and grips at the same time.
The R1-S PUSH is based on a novel application of the tried and tested rack & pinion system. Rack & pinion is most well known for use in car steering systems to turn the circular movement of turning a steering wheel, into the linear movement of the steering rack.
The R1-S PUSH actually has 4 racks and 4 pinions that all work simultaneously. When folding the R1-S PUSH, it works as follows:
1. The main support is folded forwards, pivoting at its base.
2. At the base of the main support there is a large gear, or pinion. As this turns, it engages with the top side of the rear rack and moves it backwards in the horizontal tube.
3. The two lower sides on the rear rack connect to the front aero leg which has a pinion on. As the rack moves backwards linearly, the gear rotates and the leg closes until parallel with the horizontal tube.
4. The rear rack is connected to the front rack, so they both move backwards at the same time.
5. A further pinion mounted on top of the front rack is connected to the front wheel, so as the rack moves backwards the wheel folds under the horizontal tube.
6. The handle can be folded and adjusted by loosening the knob, and re-tightening when positioned.
Why is this better?
Any external sliding mechanism is subject to dust & dirt from the golf course. If not kept clean, this can lead the mechanism to become stiff and possibly even jam. The presence of abrasive dust or grit in a sliding mechanism can also cause damage to the surface finish.
The patented rack & pinion mechanism is all housed inside the tube, away from dust & dirt. Additionally, the oversized design of the gears can work even with debris present.
As well as the functional benefits described above, the rack & pinion system means that the aesthetic is impeccably clean. With the usual sliders missing, the key lines of the R1-S Push are allowed to really sing.
Folded without wheels
All three wheels are quick release for an even smaller folded size.

A superbly engineered product that looks great as well. I bought for my 11 year old daughter. She is so impressed and has mastered the mechanism one handed already. Now we can do 18 holes no problem. Fits easy in the car.
The service, packaging and delivery was excellent as well. Would recommend.

Top quality engineering.
Folds easily into compact size and shape. Looks classy and runs very smoothly.
Much admired already, and looking forward to a long acquaintance Unknown on 11th Dec 2017
What a great product. Easy to push on my hilly South Downs course. Fits into my very small R8 boot space too. So a win win! Mike A on 4th Dec 2017
Smooth action to open and close in one motion. Quality looks. Smooth and straight to push. Shouts quality. Steve W on 16th Oct 2017
Easy to collapse and put back up.lightweight and takes up little space when folded. Great features such as umbrella holder which is stored safely underneath. Plus ball holders card and pencil holder. Easy pushing around the course, just love it great colours too Unknown on 16th Aug 2017
Very compact when folded yet very surdy when unfolded.
Very quick and easy to fold and unfold.
Fantastic build quality Robin Bell on 10th Aug 2017
This is a great quality trolley that's easy to pop up and down in seconds. Once down it's incredibly neat and takes up hardly any space! Unknown on 3rd Jul 2017
the product looks good and is very easy to erect and fold down.the trolley runs smoothly. I only gave the trolley 4 stars as I have 2 comments. First, the cradle at the top is narrower than my golf bag and it does not fit snugly into the base of the cradle (my bag is standard size). Secondly, I have found the trolley and bag to be unstable on uneven ground and have to be extra careful at times. Ron Wood on 15th May 2017
A very good looking and practical trolley. the best thing is that it folds up very small so I can get in the boot of the car! highly recommended jerry on 9th Mar 2017
Whilst buying a trolley in January doesn't really give you a chance to use your new toy immediately, there is no doubt in my mind that the R1-S will be a fantastic acquisition once winter passes. Easily deployed and fantastic looking, I was forced to upgrade my bag so it didn't look out of place on such a top-of-the-line trolley.
Truly recommended. David on 21st Feb 2017
Q: Why is it called the R1-S Push?
A: The 'R' stands for 'rack' as this is the basis of the design, and '1' is because this is the first of a brand new design. We decided against continuing the Z Series names (Z1 and Z3 were our previous push trolleys) as a Z5 infers an iterative progression from a Z3, whereas the R1 is a completely new design so deserves a completely new name. The 'R' also stands for 'Ross' which is the first name of our Chairman Ross Stewart, who came up with the rack & pinion folding concept.
Q: Is the R1-S Push really built in Great Britain?
A: Yes every single one is built by hand in Gloucestershire, just like our exclusive X & F Series powered products. Parts for the R1-S Push are made by specialist manufacturers across the world, and then assembled by hand right here in Great Britain. This allows us to ensure every product meets our exacting standards before it reaches you.
Q: Will I be able to get spare parts?
A: Of course! As we build the R1-S Push in GB we have every part, you will be able to buy these from our eCommerce website or from your local distributor.
Q: How should I clean my R1-S Push?
A: You should just use a damp cloth to keep the trolley clean from dust or dirt. If your club has an airline you can use this to carefully blow any dust from the visible parts of the mechanism. It is not recommended that you use a pressure washer or hosepipe, water could get in to the tubes or damage the bearings.
Q: How does the R1-S Push compare against the Z Series trolleys?
A: Very well. The R1-S Push actually folds 33% smaller than the Z1/Z3 did, mostly thanks to the front wheel folding under the trolley and the rear wheels folding in further. Despite folding smaller, the R1-S Push has more features and 4 times more storage volume in the handle. Innovative placement of ball and umbrella holders make this even more significant, allowing you to store large items such as sunglasses inside the console.
Q: Why are the main tubes triangular not round or oval like other trolleys?
A: Louis Sullivan's famous axiom, “form follows function” is never truer than here. As you can see in the ‘how it works’ section, the rear wheels fold courtesy of two angled racks mated to a flat top rack. These angles are critical to the way the R1-S Push works, so it made sense to create a custom shaped tube to fit the angled racks perfectly.
In order to maintain continuity in the aesthetic, this same profile is used for the main upright tube. In addition, the ball marker also uses the same profile. This both echo’s the main shape of the machine, and also ensures the SG logo is always aligned correctly.
Q: Can I get hedgehog winter wheels for the R1-S Push?
A: Yes you will be able to. These are currently underway and we expect to have them by the time the winter comes around. If you sign up for the mailing list above or register your warranty, you’ll be emailed as soon as they are available.
Q: What do you mean, “can hold any bag”?
A: Many golfers who use a push trolley also like to carry sometimes. Stand/carry bags usually have a leg mechanism which then does not sit properly on a trolley. We have designed our bag jaws to grip the bags outer edges, allowing the mechanism to sit through the middle. This means your bag will be the ‘right way up’, allowing access to your pockets and clubs as the designers intended.
